Usually, ESL Companies would require you to conduct English lessons using your Laptop/PC. There are even some who would want their teachers to appear professional looking, i.e. wearing a suit while conducting classes, which is not always pleasant in a sunny afternoon.
VIPTALK, a China-based company, can be done over your SMARTPHONE!
How? But first things first: what is VIPTALK?
What is VIPTALK?
Hangzhou iShow Education Consulting Co., Ltd. is a learning centre in China. It provides offline English lessons to its students who are mostly university students.
VIPTALK is an avenue for them to practice what they learned by engaging in a small talk or in a discussion using a PowerPoint with VIPTALK tutors.
Well, it gets easier! To earn money, Just GO ONLINE and wait for calls!
HOW to APPLY?
1. DOWNLOAD VIPTALK
Just download VIPTALK on the appstore for iOS users and on the playstore for android users.
Or you can download it here: ISHOWEDU
They also have an installer for those who want to have it installed in their PC/Laptop, but I wouldn’t want to recommend it because it’s a bit unstable and it’s not regularly updated.
2. CREATE AN ACCOUNT
After downloading the app, you’ll be prompted to LOG IN or SIGN UP.
For interested applicants, opt for the SIGN-UP option.
To create an account, you must be able to provide an E-MAIL address to retrieve the VERIFICATION CODE which will be sent after pressing the GET CODE button.
If the e-mail from VIPTALK isn’t in your inbox, please check your SPAM folder.
Also, you’ll need to put in an e-mail address for your PAYPAL account where they would send your bi-weekly salary. If you don’t have a PAYPAL account yet, you can always update it later in the application process.
Please put in C2M4N in the INVITATION CODE.
3. COMPLETE YOUR PROFILE
Before the company reviews your application, you must first COMPLETE your PROFILE.
1. Upload a professional-looking and recent HEAD PORTRAIT. VIPTALK staff will check your head portrait before you get activated. A photo not in par with their standards would delay activation.
2. Record a minimum of 30-second PROFILE VIDEO. Introduce yourself. You may state the country you’re from, your hobbies, your educational background, your teaching experiences, your teaching style and many other things that can help you land the job.
If possible, speak with little or no regional accent and/or a neutral or native-like accent. The video introduction will be the basis of the screening test so smile and be confident!
3. Provide a written introduction about yourself. In addition to the video introduction, the recruiter would assess your skill in writing and your knowledge in grammar. It may be similar to what you said in your video introduction but you may also add more details.
4. Fill out the necessary information needed such as your name, gender, profession, and Skype account name. The interview and training will be done over Skype so make sure you have access to the Skype account you provided.
5. You may add in more photos of your teaching materials and many others later in the application process.
NOTE: Your application won’t be reviewed unless you COMPLETED YOUR PROFILE.
4. SKYPE INTERVIEW
Applicants who fit in the requirements and who passed the screening test will receive a message via the app. It contains instructions on how to go about the application but I will still discuss in detail.
First, add cooltony0107 in SKYPE within 3 days. Either he or other staff would do the interview. The interview will be in THREE parts:
a. INTERVIEW. The interview portion will be about YOU. Like all other interviews, the interviewer would ask about your educational background, teaching experiences and all other things about you.
b. DEMO LESSON. Few minutes before the allotted time for the interview, pictures of the lesson material will be sent to you. You will have to use them in conducting the lessons. Finish the lesson in 10 minutes.
c. Q and A. More information about the job will be disclosed. You may also ask questions about the job and what it exactly entails. Use this opportunity to address all your concerns.
5. GROUP TRAINING
Within the few days, you will be receiving the result of the interview via Skype. If you passed, the group training shall be done within a week. Usually, it’s done over the weekends.
THREE POWERPOINT MATERIALS will be sent to you and in the group chat which you’ll be added in. Go over the materials and be familiar with the APP because your trainer will be asking you questions during the training. If you failed to answer them, you’ll have to do the group training all over again.
Passing the group training would get your account ACTIVATED; hence, you can go online and start receiving calls.
Hired applicants would start off as a probationary tutor for one month. As a probationary tutor, you are required to go online and get to teach for a few hours within the week.

You can apply for PROMOTION if you are qualified. However, it can only be done at the end of every month. So if you’re aiming to have a higher rate, make sure to reach your target before the month ends.

A memo is basically your message to the student, the words the student mispronounced, the new vocabularies learned and corrected sentences.
NOTE: Calls with uncompleted memos are not paid.
How to get the job IN THE BAG?
Your video introduction will make it break it for you.
I can’t emphasize more on how important your video introduction is. It is an avenue where you could advertise yourself. Highlight your strengths. It could be your teaching experience, your educational background, and even your accent! Look your best!
Ace that interview!
Hooray for getting shortlisted! Now, it’s necessary to impress your interviewer because it’d be similar to what it’s like working for VIPTALK. Students would want to engage in small talks so it wouldn’t hurt to show your interviewer that you have what it takes and more.
Teach out of the box.
The demo materials wouldn’t be so detailed that you have to follow a prescribed lesson flow. Hence, use your own style of teaching. Think out of the box. Smile while conducting your lesson. Encourage your student to speak more. More importantly, adjust according to your student’s English level.
Study the PowerPoint materials.
Re-doing the group training could be a pain in the neck. Hence, make sure that you’re familiar with the features of the APP, the different kinds of lesson materials, the promotion system and more.
Just be your confident self.
It’s important that you ooze with confidence because teaching with such air would mean that you have the knowledge and skills, so you have to prepare to leave no room for doubts.
Her go-getter attitude has brought her to the world of writing about ESL companies, investments and anything under the sun.
