A review of Bizmates, Inc. will be the first of the many reviews I will be writing for ESL companies

These reviews are like getting to know a potential lover, but, in this case, potential bread and butter. This way, you get to know which relationship – or again, in this case – which job is best to invest our time and effort.

Rate for New Teachers:   140 php/hour
Ceiling Rate:210 php/hour

NO PENALTIES FOR ABSENCES

Penalties for absences can be outrageous especially with situations like power outages and poor internet connection. It hurts to see the time and effort you put in just fall out of your grasp and into the pockets of sharks I’d never get to meet. Well, I’d rather not.

Well, worry no more because, with Bizmates, NOT A SINGLE CENT would be deducted from your salary.

However, there are consequences for absences that go beyond the allowable percentage of absences. Well, at least, it won’t cause a dent on your payslip.

TIME-CONSUMING APPLICATION PROCESS

I’ve mentioned that the application process in Bizmates is something other ESL Schools should try to replicate. Nevertheless, finishing the whole procedure takes two-three weeks at best.

The interviews and demo classes do not really take up a lot of your time, but the preparation and booking will.

If you’re in a hurry, then perhaps, Bizmates is not for you—just yet.

GOOD  TRAINER SUPPORT

 

“Bizmates has good trainer support” could be an understatement of how really good the support people in Bizmates.

 

Their replies are prompt, professional and polite. Need I say more? I guess the littering feedbacks all over the internet could attest to that

LIMITED SLOTS FOR NEW TEACHERS

 

Unfortunately, new trainers can’t open slots at any time of the day except on the weekends.

 

New trainers are only allowed to work from 4:00am-8:00 am and 5:00pm-12:00mn on weekdays. This slot limit can only be lifted once you’re promoted to an assessor who evaluates the English level of the students taking free trial lessons at Bizmates.

PROFESSIONAL PERSONNEL

 

What good is an ESL Company if it doesn’t uphold what it tries to instill in its students?

 

Professionalism is demanded from its employees down to its applicants. Teachers, most especially, have to carry themselves with proper conduct and good etiquette in front of the camera because of we, the teachers, are the on the front lines, the first wave of soldiers on the battle, the star players.

NO AFTERNOON SLOTS ON WEEKDAYS

 

Maybe it’s just a preference, but some teachers/trainers prefer to work in the afternoon. However, in Bizmates, no teachers can open from 1:00pm-5:00 pm on weekdays.

ORGANIZED APPLICATION PROCESS

 

All steps in the application process after the screening test are centralized in the Applicant’s Portal.

 

From booking schedules for the interview and demos to materials and videos for learning are in the portal. This is where upload the HR Requirements once you passed the final demo.

 

It’s convenient and organized.

RELATIVELY LOW STARTING SALARY

 

Bizmates require applicants with at least three years of working experience in any field. I must say that they have quite high standards. Given that, they pay quite low compared to other ESL Schools with lower qualifications.

 

New Trainers are paid 140php/50minutes. Rate increases for every specific number of lessons conducted in addition to the KPI score based on student evaluation, absences, number of opened slots, etc.

At best, the ceiling rate of 210php/hour is achieved in more or less six months.

SALARY ALWAYS COMES ON TIME OR EARLIER

 

Not once the company has missed crediting their teachers’ salary to their bank accounts.

 

Overall, the pros have outweighed the cons though it still depends on your preference if you find Bizmates, Inc. suitable to your preferences.
