At Jason English, you will have to bid goodbye to strained smiles because in here, you can teach without the camera hogging at your face.
Many teachers – experienced and inexperienced – prefer to teach audio lessons. Out of all the blogs I’ve written here at howpo.info, the List of Audio ESL Companies has received the most views and most response.
One of the ESL Schools I’ve included on the list is Jason English or JE.
JE is under the same management of English Tone. The application process in JE is slightly similar to English Tone. The minimum requirements in English Tone, however, is higher because you have to have at least three years of teaching experience.
If you have lesser than three years of teaching experience, then you are welcome at Jason English and reap the benefits/incentives English Tone teachers are going through.
What to know about Jason English?
The target market of JE is the Chinese second-language learners which include kids to professionals.
Similar with English Tone, the teaching/learning materials are provided by the company and can be accessed anytime for self-study.
What are the Requirements?
You are eligible for this position if you have the following as listed below:
- Has excellent English skills.
- At least one year of teaching experience
- Knowledgeable in Business English and English grammar.
- Has a Wired Internet Connection with at least 2 Mbps internet speed
- A working PC or Laptop/Headphone with Webcam and Noise-Cancelling Headset
- Can work with less supervision
- A quiet working place
- Committed to following the chosen schedule.
- Preferably College graduate.
- New teachers would have to affirm their preferred schedule before the training. Although JE follows a booking system, you have to be online during the committed/preferred schedule.
- It is preferable for new teachers to commit 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm on weekdays.

Jason English Application Process

|Teacher Frieda will be assisting you all throughout the application process.||As you send a contact request, put in a personal message expressing your desire to apply for a teaching position at ET.|
2. Answer the questionnaire provided
|Once your contact request is approved, T. Frieda will send you a questionnaire for your answer.||There’s no time limit set for you to accomplish such task, but it is better to answer the questionnaire as soon as you receive it.|
3. Submit CV and Speed test
|You’ll be asked to submit your CV and speed test for initial evaluation.||A resume highlighting your experiences and the specific tasks you performed on the job will help you get booked for an interview.|
Speed test must meet the minimum requirement.
4. Interview and Demo with T. Frieda
|You will be notified via SKYPE of the result of the initial evaluation.|
You will have to coordinate with T. Frieda to get a preferred time and date for the interview.
|The lesson material you will be using for the demo will be sent an hour to 30 minutes before the scheduled time.|
You will have to deliver the demo after the interview.
Your years of experience in teaching will help you perform well in the demo even with very little preparation.
The demo will be the deciding factor to get to the next stage
5. Interview and Demo with Chinese Admin
|The interview with the admin would be a bit similar to the interview you had with T. Frieda.|
You will be delivering a new set of demo using a new set of teaching materials.
The materials will be given few minutes before the scheduled time.
|Use the opportunity to impress the admin of your accent and your bright personality.|

6. Self-study Training
|Passing the interview and demo means you get to have access to their portal where you will be learning more about the company, the portal itself and more importantly, the lesson materials for the demo lessons.||T. Frieda will be giving you instructions on what and how will you be studying at the arranged time and date for the system training.|
7. System Training
|Going over the manual is mandatory you have the system training with T. Frieda.|
It is just basically confirming what you have learned from the manual/portal.
|Learn whatever you can during this training. Ask whatever that confuses you so that you can deliver smoothly the classes and other functions you have to deliver when you start teaching in ET.|
8. Final Demo
|You will have to coordinate with T. Frieda to get scheduled for the demo classes.|
You will have to conduct THREE DEMO CLASSES
|Familiarize yourself with the teaching materials uploaded at the portal.|
|9. Checklist||A checklist will be provided for you to acquire/complete before you can start teaching||You may ask ahead from T. Frieda of the requirements so that you can work on them earlier and start teaching as soon as you pass the demo.|
|10. Start Teaching||Be online on your preferred schedule and conduct booked lessons.||Once your account is activated, go through the portal to learn how to navigate it and familiarize the|
You may open slots anytime of the day from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm, PH Time.
Part-timers are welcome as long as you can teach a minimum of 4 hours from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm for FOUR consecutive days in a week.
Part-timers who can only work on the weekends is not allowed.
Your starting salary rate would depend on the evaluation made by the admin and years of teaching experiences.
This will be disclosed to you as soon as you passed the interviews.
The lowest starting rate is 110php/hour.
The highest starting rate could be as much as 130php/hour.
Salary is credited to your account via BDO on the 10th or the 25th.
If you don’t have one yet, make sure to open an account with BDO before your start your demo classes. In this way, you can start teaching and earning right away.
PENALTIES AND INCENTIVES
In the world of home-based teaching, teachers do not get a lot of benefits like other regular employees in the corporate world. The consolation we have – aside from having more freedom in our hands – is that we have incentives to motivate us to work even harder. They will be discussed to you on the orientation.
Penalties for absences aren’t that a lot especially if your absences do not fall above 10% of the total number of lessons. The specific amount of deductions as penalties would be discussed to you during the orientation.
NOTE: New Teachers enjoy paid lessons (whether the slot is booked or not) to a total of 2hours for every day you worked. For example:
#of days worked for the cut-off: 8 days
180php * 2 hours = 300php * 8 days = 2,400php
That’s 2,400php on top of your salary! This incentive is good for TWO MONTHS.
