List of ESL Companies: Compared and Contrasted

Imagine a life where you do not have to ride the bus, jeepney or the MRT for work because your workplace is right across the room.

Imagine a life where you do not have to wake up early to prepare for work so you’d avoid the traffic because work means firing up your laptop and smiling at the person on your screen.

Perhaps, you won’t have to imagine it anymore because getting a home-based job isn’t that difficult.

Hello Freedom!

One of the many things that attract people to consider online jobs, aside from a life without the traffic, is that it allows them to manage their own schedule.

You work when you can. You won’t have to if you’re feeling under the weather or you feel like watching Kdrama instead. But, of course, it’s not always the case because your freedom depends on the kind of home-based job you have.

One of these home-based jobs is online teaching.

You teach English to second-language learners like us whose mother language isn’t English. However, we, Filipinos, are quite the lucky ones because every turn of our head in the street, all, if not most, are written in English. The mode of instruction and our textbooks in schools are in English. Some of us even grew up in an English-speaking environment.

That’s why ESL companies have outsourced teachers from the Philippines.

Join the Mania!

Home-based jobs have now become a mania. If you haven’t caught up yet, it’s not yet too late to join on the bandwagon.

To get newbies started or to help experienced ESL teachers finally decide whether to jump ship or not, a list was made for you.

It’s a list of all online schools here in www.howpo.info which are compared and contrasted to help you find the ONE.

Well, it’s not just a list.

IT’S THE LIST.

ESL COMPANIES According to CATEGORIES

In my previous post, I’ve said that ESL companies have been springing up like mushrooms since globalization. Finding the perfect gateway to this industry could be tough; that’s why I added this feature to show you in what ways these online schools could be similar and different from each other.

Once you found the school suitable to your skills, experiences, and preferences, click on it and it will lead you to a page where the all the details about the company are discussed.

    1. Hi Khristine!

Yes, they pay 45php for a 25-minute class. Then that’s 90php an hour.
They offer different rates for teachers in other areas. 🙂

      All the best,

      Mari

    1. Hi Lulu!

      Thanks for the suggestion.
You may message me so that I can add the NowNTalk 🙂
I will just have to get the details.
      Thanks!

      Best Regards,

      Mari

  1. Hi! I would like to ask a favor if you could walk me through the application process in Tutoring as I couldn’t find their website and Facebook account. Thank you!

  2. Hello, does 51Talk require a daily performance evaluation/feedback after the class like Bibo has? Sometimes, the lesson note takes 3 hours to finish and sometimes taxing.

  3. ABC360 doesn’t require 9 slots “A” day please indicate that they can have 2 days off and that they can stay active by opening at least 9 slots a day for 5 days in a week.- I wrote the article about ABC360 here so please. Plus, it’s booking system. They don’t have regular students.

  4. this post is very useful. Thank you for sharing.

Also, I hope you would not mind if I use this as a reference in my claireclaire.online blog post on Online Coaching. Thank you.

    1. Hi Mayeh,

If you compare the two, Acadsoc is probably better. Although, people have different opinions but 51talk is super strict and pay is low, while Acadsoc’s issue is sometimes the pay is delayed.

      Hope this helps you decide.

  5. I previously worked for three ESL companies already stated above. MY current company now is INSKY EDU and they are the best employer so far. The pay starts at 166/50 minutes or 200 / hour (which really depends on your background and experience). As for me, since I had over 4 years of ESL teaching, I got a higher rate. Insky is also generous in terms of their incentives. You can get as much as 40% of your basic as your incentives which ranges from about 4k to 7k or more depending on your rate. They also provide Internet Support every Php 1500.00.

I am spending around 6-7 hours per day, Saturday and Sunday off. But, I am earning between 50000 to 70000 in a monthly basis. The more students, the more pay of course. This is home-based!!!!

One think I like about Insky is you have regular students. It means you will be able to really see the student’s improvement. Compared to other ESL companies, I’ve been to, the MANAGEMENT allows its teachers to suggest how the lesson should be conducted to facilitate better and quality teaching.

I couldn’t ask for more from the management. No unreasonable penalties unlike the others. They will only give you penalty if you didn’t attend your class without notification. That’s it!!!

Students wise, they are all kind and with good character. Unlike with my students before. It is easy to teach if your students are willing to learn.

If you are interested to apply, I can refer you over. Here is my number 09567307824.

They prefer teachers from Top Universities in the Philippines and teachers with language certifications like IELTS, OPIC, TOEFL, etc. They are a little bit selective of their teachers because they want quality people working for them. Almost all the teachers here have Masters Degree and language certifications.

    Hopefully, this helps.

  6. Hello! I love how detailed your post is. It’s really helpful especially for those who want to know more about ESL companies and which one would be the best fit for them.I worked in 51Talk back in 2014-2016. Super impressed! It’s a very comprehensive reference. Can I reference your guide in my blog post about the top places to look for online work?
